Teaching your Child Part 4

So, to finish off the topic, my personal opinion are,

1. Spend some quality time with your children. Learn their behavior.
2. Watch and teach them on their homework as much as possible.
3. Get out from home and bring them to breath some fresh air once in a while.
4. Find out from family and friend on school teaching material and method of teaching.
5. Be patient as your child is still a kid !
6. Make learning a habit and is enjoyable rather than taking it as hard work.
7. Let your child explore their imagination.
8. God bless you.

Teaching your Child Part 2

Before I proceed further, just to let everyone know that my boy Daryl is Autistic, so, it is tougher for me and in your case it might be easier.

After some Don't, here are some Do.

1. Do go around book store and starts to read some of the text book for kid. You will be surprise it is not a "piece of cake" these day.
2. Do monitor your child work, it might be rubbish at the beginning. Make a date marking on their work and you be surprise how far they can progress in short time. I do it and I will put some photo soon.
3. Education is not only on books. Spending a weekend at Park or Zoo or places of interest is also a good way of exposing your child to the environment.
4. Do some exercise with your child such as coloring and origami (paper folding) and it will definitely foster your relationship with them.
5. For Chinese, you might want to let your child by-heart some Chinese "Tang Si", good for memory training. According to study, one who know about 2,000 Chinese character should have a fairly good command of Mandarin. Doesn't matter if they don't know the meaning, it will slowly come in. One important thing, don't under estimate your child. Parent roughly know what they will be heading for the rest of their life in their career but your child might be a Army General, Great Politician or Noble Price Winner, the million dollar question is, "Who knows". So, a little effort everyday is worth the while.

Teaching your child

My pal had mention on how to teach your children and these are something to share.
To begin, let us start with the "Don't" first.

1. Don't expect your child to be like you. You are unique, so are your child.
2. Don't expect your child to be a genius. They are just kid !!
3. Don't expect your child to become doctor or lawyer. It might not be what they want.
4. Don't compare your child with other. You don't know your kid potential yet.
5. Don't fix the time frame for revision.
6. Don't fix the time table like whats happened in the school. We do not have many "students" here.
7. Don't try to "catch" what your child is thinking. You are not them. Let them have the childhood that they deserve and we only provide guidance and care. Look at ourselves, ever since we enter to school till now, when is the last time you have so much fun and worry free day? Everyday study, work, get paid, eat, sleep and at the end of the day, we die.

Some heavy words but that's the truth.

Dexter Boy

Dexter is almost 3 month's old and some cute photo of his. The photo was taken by my wife and I think is a pretty good job. No altering at all and is straight from raw file.
